If you are looking for a sensible weight loss program then you should avoid the mistake of choosing a fad diet to follow. These diets have proven to be popular over the years especially in the media, every so often a new fad diets appears which all the celebrities seem to be following. It can be tempting to try out these diets. However, none of them should be followed for any length of time.
Fad diets come and go, we have all heard of the cabbage soup diet, the Atkins diet and the grapefruit diet. But the problem with these diets is that they advocate fundamentally bad nutrition. In order for a diet to be successful it should revolve around a sensible and well balanced range of food. Our bodies need a sensible balance of fat, protein and carbohydrates in order to operate properly. We also need to be able to get a full range of vitamins and minerals from the food that we eat. The problem with fad diets is that they usually focus on one particular range of food which makes our food intake unbalanced. Because one food is usually predominant in these diets they are usually very boring to follow as well.
In conclusion, if you really must try a fad diet then limit it to just a few days so that you do not do yourself any permanent harm. If you do it for more than a few days you may find that once you have finished it you will put back on the weight that you have lost quite quickly. If you are really unlucky, you may end up weighing more than when you started.
